Hi Vivi,

Today I went to my primary healtcare center for a urine and blood test and I’m going to take this moment to explain you how it works here, in Spain.

We have a public universal healthcare system that we all pay with part of our taxes. When I register my residency at the town hall I ask wich is my primary heatlcare location and my emergency location based on my address. After I go to the medical center and I choose my family doctor. I have a health card and a mobile app to track my health records.

If I fill ill I just go there and they check me, if I need an specialist I get a refferal and by showing my healthcard I give access to my medical records to the doctor I have in front of me. Also if a doctor prescribes some pharmaceutical treatment, the load the prescription on the system and I can go to any pharmacy at any time and they by just scaning my healthcare card have access to the prescription and give what I need right away. Pharmacists don’t count pills, all treatments are standarized and come prepacked by the pharmaceutical company.

I never went to the doctor, and every time we went for you, Arthur or Mom it felt so complicated to me.

What do you think?
