Why did Obi-wan told Luke his father was dead?

In Star Wars episode 4, A new hope, Luke learns from Obi-wan that Darth Vader killed his father. In episode 5, The empire strikes back, Luke learns that Darth Vader is his father.

Contradiction is the way to create depth, because in the surface level we have lightsabers, telekenesis and mind tricks, and in a deeper lever is talking about morality and cosmic balance.

For Obi-wan Dark side = Death.

We all use the same words, but not all have the same mining, that creates contradiction until we get resolution through understanding.
