Noirmoutier

Noirmoutier is a little island by the west coast of France where I went every summer for two weeks as a child. My grandmother, on my dads side owned a house just by the beach, with no TV or any other form of entertainment. When we arrived there we had bycicles and me, my siblings and cousins would ride all over the island going to the beach, to get icecream, to the waterpark....

Oran, Algeria

Hi Vivi, [Oran] (https://goo.gl/maps/nHsFqtapyYndcq569) is my mother’s father, Fernando, birth place, he was son of French colonizers, they were called Pied-Noir, it means “Black feet”, the name comes because they French used black shoes at the time. I’ve never been in the country, only seen images online and it looks amazing, a place to visit in winter. Is very mediteranian, for me it has this very understandable architecture of the old world because when I went to Texas it took me a while to understand why things where build how they did it....

Rutchenkovo Train Station

Hi Vivi, The Rutchenkovo Train Station is the last thing that I’ve found still with our family name. It aint spelled in the same way but that’s what happens with translations from different alphabets. In this area is where my grandfather was originally, after the first World War the Russian Revolution started he had to leave the country, he was a young teenager, his mother negotiated with the Brithish and they left by boat from Odesa to Dubrovnic....
